The Historical Writing Club invites YOU, a middle or high school student, to participate in our inaugural publishing season!

About Us

The Historical Writing Club offers middle and high school students a valuable opportunity to write essays about local history, showcase their research in distinguished journals, and work alongside university professors and historians to expand public knowledge of significant historical topics. Founded in Plainsboro, New Jersey, the club currently focuses on New Jersey history, with plans to broaden its scope in the future.

Meetings will be held on Zoom every other Friday from 5-6pm starting in the fall of 2024.

HWC Leadership

Niranjan Mohanraj is a senior at West Windsor-Plainsboro High School North with years of experience in historical research. He is the president of the school’s National History Day club and has competed in the NHD competition at the Regional, State, and National levels. He is also an intern and Youth Advisory Council member at the Wicoff House Museum, where he has organized exhibits and planned events related to local history.

Kate Nolan is a museum professional with nearly two decades of experience working with small history museums in New Jersey. She currently manages the Wicoff House Museum in Plainsboro, New Jersey. In 2019, she established the museum’s award-winning program, the Youth Advisory Council, which gives teen volunteers an active role in the museum’s ongoing development. She is passionate about advancing youth engagement with museums.
