Let loose- colonial style! To mark the 6-month countdown to America’s 250th birthday on July 4th, 2026, the museum invited percussionist and museum educator, Justin Vedovelli, to hold THE BEAT OF THE REVOLUTION, an all-ages Revolutionary War drum circle.

Museum guests were joined by Plainsboro Boy Scout troop #168 as Justin explained how drums were used in the Revolutionary War and Civil War and participants were invited to try their hand at playing different historically accurate commands like “turn left”, “turn right”, “get water”, “ceasefire”, and more. Justin also covered some important percussion rudiments like rolls and flams, taught in an easy to learn call and response format. Our youngest circle participant, Evelyn, excitedly reported that this was her first time ever getting to play a drum.
More information about Justin and his drum circle offerings can be found on his website at www.justinvedovelli.com
