Teens in Museums Workshop 2022

by | Dec 6, 2022 | Events, Museum Events and Programs, Museum Staff, Youth Advisory Council | 0 comments

On Saturday 12/3 we had a great turnout at our Teens in Museums Workshop! It was such a pleasure to meet and chat with these lovely museum professionals and share about our successful Youth Advisory Council program! Guests were invited to interact with our YAC members, tour our spaces and have lunch together. We also had the opportunity to discuss each museum’s successes and challenges to work through common struggles small museums face.

Our Youth Advisory Council program has changed the way every aspect of our museum operates and has helped ensure our museum’s sustainability and relevancy. During the last three years, our museum YAC has had over 100 teens and pre-teens as volunteer members. We currently have about 50 active members! The group meets weekly at our museum, and assists with event and program development, archive and exhibit projects, and outreach and community relations. We hope to empower other small museums establish their own youth groups!

Thank you to all who came and shared your experiences with us. We look forward to seeing you again!
