This beautiful antique secretary desk is on display in the former home of John Van Buren Wicoff. Mr. Wicoff’s portrait sits on the hinged, drop-down writing desk. When folded, the writing desk hides inner storage compartments which would have held various desk accessories and other small items important to the owner. Glass doors on the hutch would have allowed for the display of books, china or other valuable items. It is interesting to contemplate the number of hours Mr. Wicoff and other members of his family may have spent working at this desk and what sorts of treasures might have been hidden in the little drawers and cubbies.
