One of the jewels of Plainsboro Township is glistening McCormack Lake and the surrounding 1000-acre Plainsboro Preserve.  The McCormack Sand and Gravel Company mined the area that is now McCormack Lake from 1969 to 1976. The land lay unused for years until it was acquired and preserved as open space. Construction on the Nature Center started in 2002 and in 2003 the Preserve welcomed its first guests.  Hints of the area’s previous use were still clearly visible when these photos were taken in 2002-2003.
